Ian Davies graduated in optometry from Manchester and started his career in private optometric practice, combining this with academic research and teaching. In 1988, he joined Allergan's contact lens research and development clinic and then in 1992 he moved to Johnson and Johnson Vision (JJV) as they were establishing the disposable contact lens market. Over the past 26 years, Ian held positions of increasing responsibility across multiple functions within JJV, establishing THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE® as a major training facility in Europe and, most recently was Vice President of Global Education & Development. In 2018, Ian retired from JJV to set up his own business, IansEyes Ltd providing motivational speaking, management consulting and personal coaching. He has co-authored two text books on contact lens practice and published multiple papers in both peer-reviewed and other publications.
