Kevin Liu
Kevin has a passion for clinical excellence and has dedicated much of his career to optometrist advancement and professional development. As optometrist director at Specsavers Altrincham, Sale and Urmston, he was able to establish a strong reputation with community enhanced services which were facilitated by his higher qualifications in becoming an independent prescriber and professional certificates in glaucoma, medical retina and low vision. Prior to optometry, Kevin was a secondary school teacher of science and chemistry. He has also held previous roles as lecturer in optometry at the University of Manchester, head of optometry development and head of enhanced optical services for Specsavers. Kevin maintains this heritage in education as an optometrist development consultant designing and delivering CPD for Specsavers and the College of Optometrists. He has a soft spot for early career optometry and enjoys working with pre-reg and newly qualified optometrists. Kevin draws on a deeper insight for this group as an assessor and examiner for the College of Optometrists and STEP OSCE examiner for Johnson & Johnson. Kevin continues to work as a primary care optometrist in the Greater Manchester area alongside his current role as lead clinical performance consultant for Specsavers. His other roles include being a member of the subject expert group for medical retina for the College of Optometrists, lead assessor for WOPEC and chair of Manchester, Salford and Trafford LOC.
