Nicholas Rumney is currently in practice in Hereford. A third-generation optometrist, he gained his degree in Cardiff and his Education (MSc) in Melbourne. He has been a FAAO since 1995 and diplomate in Public Health since 2019.  Nicholas was part of the team that developed the regulations underpinning therapeutic registration and in 2012 he qualified as an independent prescriber. His practice was the first in the UK to introduce 3D-OCT, and latterly, swept-source OCT. Nicholas regularly presents on this technology at meetings as far apart as Japan, Finland, South Africa and India. He was a founding member of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics and recently completed a three-year term as president. In 2018, Nicholas was made honorary professor in clinical optometry at the University of Manchester. In 2020, BBR Optometry joined forces with the Hakim group.
