Satvinder Soomal started his Specsavers journey 24 years ago as an optical assistant, training to be a dispensing optician and contact lens optician before being encouraged to study optometry. During his 10 years as a hospital optometrist, he worked in a range of clinics and became a senior specialist optometrist, supporting many pre-reg optometrists and a team of hospital specialist optometrists and trainee ophthalmologists - eventually becoming the optometry manager and deputy head of the hospital eye department. Satvinder returned to Specsavers in 2016 as one of the then heads of EOS and as a partner in two Northamptonshire practices. He has worked with Specsavers' professional advancement team, presenting and facilitating at professional advancement conferences and at 100% Optical. He has been involved in many Vision Aid Overseas projects including working across countries such as Burkina Faso and Punjab. Satvinder is now head of optometry engagement and progression UK, ROI and Spain for Specsavers.
