Vasuki Sivagnanavel
Vasuki Sivagnanavel is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and is the lead for medical retina at the Royal Eye Unit, Kingston Hospital where she has developed one of the largest macular degeneration services in London. She has a specialist interest in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vein occlusion and is recognised for combining clinical excellence with a compassionate approach to care, general ophthalmic disorders and advanced cataract surgery. She received clinical excellence awards in 2014 and 2017
Her specialist ophthalmic training was at Kings College Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. She was awarded a doctorate in medicine from the University of London for her research work on age-related macular degeneration and retinal imaging. She is still active in research and has published in peer review journals and presented at international conferences in Europe and the US. Vasuki is a keen supporter of many charities including Sight Savers and has volunteered internationally in eye camps.
